Craig Perciavalle

Vice President, General Manager, Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding

Craig Perciavalle joined Fincantieri Marine Group as the leader of Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in November 2021.

Craig joins FMG with nearly 30 years in the shipbuilding and ship repair industry, evenly split between the commercial and defense sectors.

Before joining FMG, Craig was President of Austal USA, where he successfully executed two major Naval shipbuilding programs; Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) and the Independence variant of the Littoral Combat Ship program, delivering 23 surface ships to the Navy since becoming president of Austal in late 2012. Before becoming president, Craig held various challenging leadership roles at Austal USA since 2007 as Director of Operations, Vice President of Operations, and Senior Vice President of Shipyard Operations.

Under Craig’s leadership, Austal USA experienced significant growth, becoming the fifth largest shipbuilder in the United States, the largest aluminum shipbuilder globally, and one of the largest private employers in the State of Alabama. Total employment grew by over 3,500 to over 4,500 total employees within a five-year span. This included significant process and facility growth, with $470M invested in facility expansion resulting in approximately 1 million square feet of indoor manufacturing space, ultimately becoming one of the most modern and advanced ship manufacturing facilities in the United States.

During his tenure, Austal was also routinely recognized nationally by the Shipbuilders Council of America for excellence and improvement in safety, the American Longshore Mutual Association as the Best Large Shipyard for safety, and named Forbes’ 49th Best Midsize Employer in the Nation.

Craig also led the establishment and significant growth of the service business at Austal USA, supporting LCS and EPF sustainment activities both domestically and abroad.

Perciavalle graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in marine engineering systems from the United States Merchant Marine Academy and served eight years as a commissioned officer in the United States Naval Reserve.
